Day 2: From Capian to Saint Macaire. ( From 40 to 50 km)
Starting out on the bicycles, you will venture out into vineyards of Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux and Cotes de Bordeaux around St Macaire. The town of St Macaire is a medieval cité with sites and wine caves to explore. Historic property with swimming pool awaits you. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Saint Macaire Loop and return ( 50 km)
On this day you will go back to vineyards, this time through the wines of Sauternes (Sauternais), that wine so commonly served with foie gras. There are a number of chateau/vineyards along the route that will cross many shady paths and rivers. Some of the appellations include: Chateau La Tour Blanche, Chateau de Malle, and the historical site of Chateau de Roquetaillade. (B,L,D)
Day 4: From Saint Saint Macaire to St Martin de Lerm (40 km)
Leaving St Macaire you will follow the routes of the "Grands Hommes" of this area: Francois Mauriac and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec; famous writer and painter. You can visit a former home and museum of Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as taste the wines of the area. You will have a chance to visit a local honey producer, before arriving at your Bacchus themed B&B. Day 5: From Saint Martin to Saint Brice ( 35 km).
You will discover the countryside of a magnificent feudal lord's chateaux. You will across the White and Red Bordeaux vineyards along the way. As well, you will have the opportunity to see the church of Monpezat, the Chateau des Seigneurs de Benauge, and the village of Coirac, a beautiful village which is designated "village fleurie". You will discover also Sauveterre de Guyenne, an English walled-town of Entre-deux-Mers. If you desire, you can taste the wine of the area at "La Maison des vins du Sauveterrois". Dinner and night in B&B. (B, L, D)
Day 6: From Saint Brice to Monsegur. ( From 40 to 50 km)
You will discover on your way the medieval walled-town of Pellegrue as one of the first stops. Some of the visits along the way include a visit to the abbey of Saint Ferme, a jewel of religious roman art. The ride also includes a climb to the Butte de Launay which reaches the highest point of Entre-deux-Mers. Dinner and night in B&B in a XVIII century manor house. (B, L, D)
Jour 7: Discover one of the smallest villages of France! From Monsegur to Saint Martin de Lerm. ( From 26 to 40 km).
In the beginning of the day, you can discover the walled-town of Monsegur, built in 1265 by the Queen of England. Monsegur is an example of a "new city" as it was called in the Middle Ages, based on its geometric plan and because it was a walled-town. There are 8 walled-towns in Gironde with this designation. Along the road again you will find this small village of France, Castelmoron-d'Albret. This village is as big as 3 football playgrounds. Built on limestone rock, you can admire all of the valley of Monsegur. Dinner and night in B&B. Same stop as Day 2. (B, L, D)
Day 8: Departure after breakfast, transfer from your B&B to the airport, or train station in Bordeaux. (B)
